The Wet Secrets are a step closer to winning $100,953

Edmonton’s brassiest dance rockers are one of the Top 3 finalists in Alberta’s first Peak Performance Project, sponsored by a Calgary radio station, 95.3 The Peak. It’s the province’s most lucrative music prize.

At the very least, the musicians in marching-band outfits are guaranteed to win $50,000 for third place. (Second place gets $75,000.) Who are the other two in the Top 3? 36?, an eclectic pop-rock act from Calgary,  and Lauren Mann and the Fairly Odd Folk from Brooks. (Her group won CBC’s Searchlight 2014: the Hunt for Canada’s Best New Artist earlier this year.)

The three acts will now perform Thursday, Nov. 27 at the Republik Nightclub in Calgary and, at the end of the night, the $100,053 grand prize winner will be announced. The results will be determined by a series of challenges, showcase performances, and online votes.

The Top 3 were chosen from 12 contestants, including Edmonton’s Nuela Charles, Scenic Route To Alaska and Mitchmatic. They were all put through their paces at an August boot camp, where they all wrote and recorded songs:
